January 21, 2013: Indiana Schools Advance to Global Robotics Event
Three Hoosier schools are headed to the Vex Robotics World Championships this spring in California. The teams secured their spot in the global event by strong showings at this weekend's first Indianapolis city championships. The competition is designed to help promote science, technology, engineering and math education.
 
January 18, 2013: Education Grant to Fund Math Program
The Center of Workforce Innovations in northwest Indiana has landed a $360,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Education. The money will help fund ReadyNWI's efforts to improve math skills for students moving into post-secondary education or career training programs.

The president of the University of Southern Indiana is asking state legislators for an additional $5 million in each of the next two years. Linda Bennett says USI offers the lowest tuition rates among Indiana's four-year residential universities, but it will receive the least amount of funding per student. She made the appeal Thursday to the House Ways and Means Committee.
